About

My name is David Norman and Norman Information Technology Services is a manifestation of my love of Computing and Information Systems.

I have over 20+ years experience and expertise in a variety of areas regarding Information Technology.  I highly enjoy sharing my knowledge of computing with others and watching as that "aha" moment comes over their face as I am teaching them or performing some other service for them.  There is nothing more that I value than a client complimenting my ability to communicate with them at their level of knowledge and abilities.  It is very satisfying knowing that a customer appreciates my knowledge, skills and ability.

A little about my background.  I started in the computing field back when programs were written on paper punch cards and the screen of the computer was black with simply green text.  There were no windows, simply Microsoft DOS (Disk Operating System), a text based system.  As a student at the University of Rhode Island I graduated with multiple degrees including a Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems.  I also began my career in Information Systems as a Computer Operator in the Academic Computer Center.  I rose to the highest student position, managing other students and operating IBM Mainframe and PCs as a Lead Computer Operator.  During that time Windows came into existence and I self taught myself the Windows OS (operating system), Lotus 123 and Microsoft Office.  I continued my love of learning taking courses in and self learning all versions of Microsoft Windows and Office along with many other types of software, networking and programming languages.  I used those abilities in my career path becoming the go to guy for an organization of over 200 people providing for their hardware & software installation, troubleshooting and training while also working as a network administrator, systems analyst and designer, programmer and website designer.  I have recently attained a Master's Degree in Business Administration with a focus on Information Systems Management.  I have subsequently been involved with consulting projects ranging from teaching an individual about Windows XP to an analysis for a multi-million dollar company to help them save millions of dollars over the lifetime of the provided solution.
